The Guernsey Blind Association has been chosen as AFM’s charitable partner for 2018.

The facilities management company launched its search for a charity to support in October of last year. After studying dozens of applications, staff chose the Guernsey Blind Association, a Guernsey charity that aims to support those with a visual impairment living within the Bailiwick.

Martyn Pipet, AFM operations manager, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the Guernsey Blind Association in Guernsey this year. The charity does an incredible job at assisting with the care and welfare of local islanders living with a visual impairment. We hope that our partnership, providing practical and fundraising help, will allow the charity to achieve greater awareness on the island.”

Debbie Clarke, vision support advisor at Guernsey Blind Association, said: “We are honoured to be selected by AFM as their chosen charity for 2018. Their support, publicity and fundraising will provide the Guernsey Blind Association with valuable exposure to help reach the many people living with a visual impairment in Guernsey.”

AFM will support the Guernsey Blind Association throughout the year by providing both practical and fundraising help. They will also aim to raise awareness of the charity and its variety of services for the local community, including practical and emotional family support. AFM’s Guernsey office has already completed a weight loss challenge to raise funds for the charity.

Last year, AFM partnered with charity, Grow Ltd. and raised over £2,400 through mufti days, cake sales, collection boxes and a Christmas raffle. The charity provides training and a sheltered work environment in horticulture for people with a leaning disability.
