Victoria College has reopened its newly refurbished Sixth Form Centre, marking a significant government investment in the College’s post-16 provision.
On Thursday 24 September, the Centre was officially reopened by the Minister for Education and Lifelong Learning, Deputy Catherine Curtis, at a special event attended by the Chair of Governors, members of the Senior Leadership Team and Senior Prefects.
The project reflects Victoria College’s priority to proactively invest in the future of its sixth form education, with flexibility and inclusivity being key drivers in the design. With a full upgrade to almost every facet of the Centre, the new facilities support academic excellence while providing current and future students with modern and dynamic spaces for independent study, collaborative learning and personal development.
Head Boy, Oliver Bell, said: “The new Sixth Form Centre is an exciting redevelopment for students, providing us with a professional environment that reflects the ambitions we share within the Sixth Form. The designated study and social spaces will help create a positive and productive atmosphere, allowing students to collaborate, focus and make the most of the opportunities available to them.
“I am incredibly proud to be a member of Victoria College Sixth Form and to see the investment being made in our education. The new Centre will have a positive impact on both our academic experience and the wider opportunities available to students.”
Headteacher, Dr Gareth Hughes said: “This Sixth Form Centre represents a significant investment in the future of our students and our post-16 provision. We wanted to create a space that reflects the aspirations we have for every young person who studies here.
“The Centre has been designed to support a culture of academic excellence, high standards and mutual respect, whilst also providing exceptional facilities for collaboration, independent study and community building.
“We are honoured that the Minister for Education and Lifelong Learning was able to join us to officially reopen the Centre and celebrate this important milestone in the College’s development.”
