Wetwheels Jersey has announced that Jersey-born actor and stuntman James Wilkinson has become an ambassador for the True Grit Wetwheels Challenge and plans to take part in the 2027 event on Sunday 25 April.
James spent much of his childhood in and on the water, developing a lifelong connection with the sea. That passion makes him a fitting ambassador for the True Grit Wetwheels Challenge, a fundraising event featuring a run through Ronez Quarry with a variety of obstacles designed to test participants’ teamwork, determination and sense of adventure.
Participants can choose to tackle every obstacle or simply enjoy the route, with funds raised supporting Wetwheels Jersey’s work providing barrier-free boating experiences for local people living with disabilities and other challenges.
James has built a career in the film industry as both an actor and stunt performer. Most recently, he appeared as Mekaneck in the 2026 blockbuster Masters of the Universe.
The 2027 True Grit Wetwheels Challenge will take place on Sunday 25 April, bringing together individuals, families, friends and corporate teams. Funds raised will help Wetwheels Jersey continue providing accessible adventures at sea for people of all ages and abilities.
Dina Rogan, Chief Operating Officer of Wetwheels Jersey, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to welcome James as an ambassador for the True Grit Wetwheels Challenge. Although his career has taken him around the world, he has never lost his connection with Jersey or the sea. His enthusiasm for the challenge and his willingness to support Wetwheels Jersey will help us inspire even more people to get involved.
“2027 is also set to be a landmark year for Wetwheels Jersey as we take delivery of our brand-new, purpose-built accessible boat. Incorporating the very latest marine technology and accessibility features, it will allow us to continue providing safe, inclusive and memorable experiences on the water for years to come. The funds raised through events like the True Grit Wetwheels Challenge, together with the support of our sponsors and donors, are vital in helping us maximise the opportunities this incredible new vessel will bring.”
James Wilkinson said: “Growing up in Jersey, the sea was my playground and played a huge part in shaping who I am. That love of the water eventually became part of my career too, from driving boats and jet skis to spending six years performing in water-based stunt shows. I know firsthand the freedom, excitement and confidence that being on the water can give you, which is why what Wetwheels Jersey does really resonates with me. Everyone deserves the chance to experience that, no matter who you are. I’m proud to become an ambassador for the True Grit Wetwheels Challenge and can’t wait to get involved next April, helping raise as much money and awareness as possible for an incredible local charity.”
