The Atlantic Hotel’s Head Sommelier, Alexandru Dan, has been recognised among the UK’s leading wine professionals, earning 40th place in the Top 100 UK Sommeliers 2026.
This marks the third consecutive year that Alexandru has been honoured with a place on this prestigious list, compiled by the industry body Sommelier Edit.
The annual Top 100 is judged using a rigorous assessment process that considers professional experience, seniority, qualifications and industry achievements. New for 2026, finalists also underwent an interview designed to test their expertise, reflecting the awards’ increasingly rigorous judging process and increased levels of competition.
Alexandru (pictured receiving his award), who also holds the distinction of being a three-time Best Romanian Sommelier, attended the awards ceremony at The Dorchester in London, where the results were revealed during a gathering of many of the UK’s most respected wine professionals.
Alexandru said: “It’s an honour to be recognised among the UK’s Top 100 Sommeliers for a third consecutive year. The standard across the industry continues to rise, so retaining a place in the rankings means a great deal.”
Patrick Burke, Owner of The Atlantic Hotel, added: “This is a remarkable achievement. Alexandru’s knowledge, passion and commitment to excellence have helped establish one of the finest wine programmes in the British Isles, enhancing the exceptional dining experience our guests enjoy at Ocean Restaurant.”
