So far this year, Skipton International has donated £35,000 to charities and community projects across the Channel Islands through its Skipton Community Fund.

The Fund supports smaller not-for-profit projects in the islands where Skipton International operates, helping organisations deliver work that benefits local communities.

Applications are now open for the next round of funding, closing on 30 June 2026.

Among the charities supported is Acorn Enterprises in Jersey, which creates a positive environmental impact while providing training and employment opportunities for Islanders with a disability or long-term health condition.

Georgia Hodgson, Fundraising Relationship Lead at Acorn, said: “The Skipton Community Fund has made a valuable difference to Acorn by supporting the cost of a new irrigation pump at our plant nursery.

“With hundreds of thousands of plants in the nursery at any one time, many of which can die within 24 hours without water, having reliable irrigation is essential. This vital infrastructure helps ensure the long-term sustainability of the nursery and the many community and public spaces our plants support across the island.”

Jersey Hospice Care, the Island’s only hospice, have also received a donation through the fund. The charity will use this to provide memory frames and keepsakes for patients and their families.

Torie Millar, Fundraising Manager at Jersey Hospice Care said: “Thank you for your generous donation from the Skipton Community Fund for us to be able to provide memory frames and keepsakes for our patients and their families. Your kindness and support make a meaningful difference, helping us ensure that compassionate care and comfort are always available to patients and their loved ones when they need us most.”

Margo

The Fund also supported Margo’s Marvellous Mind in Guernsey, helping the family move closer to the next stage of Margo’s stem cell journey. Born in September 2023 as one of triplets, Margo has faced extraordinary challenges from the very start of her life. Despite living with the effects of a severe brain injury, she continues to show remarkable strength every day.

Naomi Foley of Margo’s Marvellous Mind said: “We are absolutely overwhelmed by the generosity of the Skipton Community Fund. The donation is a huge milestone in Margo’s journey and brings us so much closer to our next step on her stem cell journey. It’s more than just a donation, it’s a gift of hope for Margo’s future, and we can’t thank the committee enough for their support.”

Fenella Comeskey, Chair of the Skipton Community Fund Committee, said: “The support we give to local charities shows the breadth and importance of the work taking place across our islands every day. From health and wellbeing to inclusion, sustainability and practical support for families, local charities play a vital role in strengthening the communities we are proud to be part of.

“We are so pleased to have supported such a wide range of organisations, and we would encourage eligible charities and community groups across the Channel Islands to apply before the next closing date.”
