Queens Road Medical Practice has launched a new nurse-led advice clinic to support patients living with Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis.
The service will provide expert guidance, personalised care, and ongoing support for patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
This year, 25,000 people in the UK will be told they have Crohn’s or Colitis, which are the two main types of IBD. They are lifelong, immune-mediated conditions that cause severe diarrhoea, abdominal pain, fatigue, and weight loss, altering between active flare-ups and periods of remission.
The clinic provides personalised, patient-centred care including chronic disease management, lifestyle and medication advice, clinical monitoring, and tailored care plans. Patients will also benefit from regular follow-ups and structured flare management to support early intervention and improved symptom control.
“We aim to empower patients to better understand and manage their condition,” said Clinical Nurse Specialist, Sister Mae Skillen (pictured). “Living with Crohn’s disease or Ulcerative Colitis can be challenging, and this clinic provides a dedicated space for patients to receive expert advice, personalised support, and continuity of care.”
Rob Jordan, Practice Manager, added: “This clinic represents an important step in improving access to specialist support within our local community. By providing dedicated care close to home, we can help reduce pressure on GP and hospital services while ensuring patients with long-term conditions receive timely, consistent, and high-quality support.”
