NatWest International strengthens support for Le Platon care home

NatWest International has enhanced its support for Le Platon, Guernsey’s oldest residential care home.

Le Platon provides a safe and supportive environment for older members of the Guernsey community and plays a crucial role in the island’s residential care provision. NatWest International has worked closely with the home for a number of years, including a commercial loan to support the development of two new wings which has been crucial to enhancing the resilience and sustainability of this important local charity.

The expansion reflects Le Platon’s commitment to evolving alongside the needs of the community and has increased capacity to from 25 to 50 bedrooms, including 37 specialised beds providing dementia and mental health care. This growth helps ensure that the highest levels of care are available to those who need it most.

Earlier this year, NatWest International increased its financial support to ensure continued investment in the home and enable the team at Le Platon to maintain high standards of care for Guernsey’s ageing population.

Lynn Whitworth, Head of NatWest International’s Corporate and Commercial team in Guernsey, said: “We are proud to support the local healthcare sector at many levels, helping to enhance facilities that make a meaningful difference to the wider community.

“We were particularly pleased to work alongside the Le Platon team on this ambitious and necessary project, which will help future-proof the provision of care home beds in Guernsey. The completed home offers a welcoming, high quality, modern environment for those in need of care.”

On 25 April, Le Platon held a special presentation to mark the invaluable contribution of the late Jurat Mike Tanguy, who sadly passed away before the development was completed, retiring Director Bryan Mauger and architect, the late Mitchell Sneddon.

John Marren, Director at Le Platon, said: “We are delighted that NatWest International remains committed to supporting organisations that make a meaningful difference to local communities across the Bailiwick, helping to ensure essential services continue to thrive for years to come. They have an in-depth knowledge of the local healthcare sector and worked with us closely throughout the programme, and especially during the pandemic.”
