This summer, Walkers will again deliver its free Business Summer School in Jersey and Guernsey.
The Summer School offers students aged 16 and over an opportunity to experience the world of business, finance, entrepreneurship and law in a practical, hands-on setting.
The Business Summer School has been delivered to more than 450 students to date and will run for the sixth time in Guernsey and the fifth time in Jersey. The programme is designed to give students real exposure to professional environments and working practices at a stage when many are beginning to make decisions about their future.
Across the week, students take part in a varied programme that includes a mock board meeting, a mock trial before a real judge and interactive sessions with professionals working across business, financial services and entrepreneurship. The focus is on insight and experience rather than expectation, with students encouraged to participate, ask questions and challenge assumptions.
Members of the Walkers team are involved throughout the week, creating an open and approachable environment where students can develop confidence, strengthen communication skills and gain a clearer understanding of how organisations operate in practice. The emphasis is on exposure, perspective and helping students make more informed choices about what comes next.
Matt Sanders, managing partner of Walkers’ Guernsey office, said: “Walkers Business Summer School reflects our long-term commitment to the communities we work in and to supporting young people at an important stage in their development.”
Jonathan Heaney, managing partner of Walkers’ Jersey office, added: “By giving students early access to professional environments and honest insight into different career paths, the programme helps them build confidence and make more informed decisions about their future.”
