UBS Global Wealth Management promotes financial confidence at Jersey College for Girls
Share on LinkedInTwitterFacebookEmail

UBS Global Wealth Management this week delivered a female financial empowerment presentation to students in Years 7 to 13 at Jersey College for Girls.

The presentation was part of the UBS-sponsored “The Art of LeadHERship©” curriculum, created and led by Gaëlle Deschamps. The session formed part of the firm’s commitment to supporting women’s wealth and inspiring the next generation of female investors and entrepreneurs in Jersey.

Emma Wheeler, Head of Women’s Wealth at UBS Global Wealth Management, was introduced by Head Girl, Tino, and Deputy Head Girls, Ketaki and Ella, before addressing the JCG pupils on the importance of building financial confidence early in life. Complementing the confidence-building focus of the LeadHERship curriculum, Emma’s session centred on equipping young women with the knowledge and mindset to take control of their financial futures.

During her presentation, Emma highlighted that 35% of the world’s wealth is currently in women’s hands; a figure that is rising significantly, underlining that women are an increasingly powerful economic force. She spoke about the gender wealth gap and the importance of ensuring that young women feel confident engaging with investing and long-term financial planning in order to help narrow that gap. Emma also shared research evidencing that the portfolios of female investors commonly outperform those of their male counterparts, reinforcing the message that thoughtful, disciplined investing can deliver strong outcomes over time.

“Building financial confidence among young women is essential if we are to narrow the gender wealth gap and ensure women are fully participating in long-term wealth creation,” said Emma. “Women already control a significant and growing share of global wealth. By starting early and understanding the power of investing, young women can take control of their financial futures and become the investors and decision-makers of tomorrow.”

“At a time in their lives when young women are seeking greater independence, it is vital that they understand what true financial independence means,” said Natalie Hopkins, Assistant Head at JCG, who oversees Personal Development and Character. “By developing that understanding early, they are better equipped to realise their full potential and shape their own futures with confidence.”
