Jersey athletes will benefit from a £284,500 Travel Funding investment in 2026, supporting 39 local sports organisations through Jersey Sport and the Government of Jersey.

The allocation represents the first major milestone in Jersey Sport’s commitment to distribute £1 million into the Island’s sporting community during 2026 – reinforcing a strategic focus on athlete development, organisational sustainability and long-term growth across local sport.

Travel Funding enables clubs and athletes to access higher-level competition and training opportunities not available on-island, strengthening development pathways and broadening competitive experience beyond Jersey.

Delivered through a single annual funding round, the programme allows organisations to plan their full competition calendars with confidence, allocating funding strategically across the year to maximise impact.

All applicants must meet minimum governance standards through Jersey Sport’s Safe and Sustainable Sport Health Check, ensuring funded organisations demonstrate strong leadership, safeguarding and sustainability. Successful organisations are also required to report on the impact of their funding at the end of the calendar year, reinforcing accountability and measurable development outcomes.

Jon Le Fondre, Sport Development Officer (Funding) at Jersey Sport, said: “We’re proud to support so many sports organisations and athletes in accessing opportunities off-island. Through the support of Government of Jersey, this funding helps remove some of the barriers to competing at a higher level than is available on-island, giving athletes the chance to gain valuable experience and represent Jersey with confidence.

“Travel Funding is about ensuring athletes from Jersey have the opportunity to develop and thrive beyond the Island, while strengthening the long-term future of sport locally.”
