The Bright Plates, Bright Futures initiative – a collaboration between Bright Beginnings, Les Cotils, and Guernsey’s Health Improvement Commission – has secured three-year funding.
The funding places the project on a sustainable financial footing and supports its ongoing work to improve children’s access to nutritious, affordable meals.
The programme focuses on providing young children with freshly prepared, balanced meals that are both appealing and developmentally appropriate. By keeping costs low for families while prioritising nutrition and quality, the partnership aims to make healthy eating an easy, everyday experience for children attending Bright Beginnings Nursery and Preschool.
Lisa Blondel, CEO of Bright Beginnings, said: “Working with Les Cotils over the years has brought real benefits for our children and we are extremely grateful for the time they donate to prepare, cook and deliver the food. The meals are fresh, varied, and child friendly, and families really value having this support. Some of our children also take complimentary meals home with them, which makes a big difference for their growth and development.”
“We are delighted that this funding will allow Bright Beginnings to continue and grow Bright Plates, Bright Futures,” said Alex Kosmas, Eat Well Lead at the Health Improvement Commission. “Early years are a crucial stage for establishing positive food habits, and this partnership helps ensure children have access to meals that are both nutritious and enjoyable.”
