The Jersey National Park has appointed Greg Morel as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Born and educated in Jersey, Greg has more than two decades of experience in environmental governance, marine resource management and government policy delivery.

After studying marine biology and oceanography in the UK, he began his career overseas before returning to the Island, where he has held senior roles within the Government of Jersey.

He was previously Head of Marine Resources, leading policy and operational work across fisheries management, the marine environment, scientific assessment and compliance. In that role he also oversaw key planning and co-ordination during the UK’s withdrawal from the EU, particularly in relation to fisheries and the Island’s marine interests.

More recently, Greg has worked with Government and NGOs on programmes spanning infrastructure, public estate management and strategic delivery, giving him a detailed understanding of Jersey’s environmental, cultural and community landscape and the importance of partnerships across government, landowners and civil society.

As CEO, Greg will lead the next phase of the Park’s development, which includes building operational capacity, enhancing conservation and engagement programmes, strengthening partnerships, and supporting ongoing work to establish the Park’s statutory foundations.

Commenting on his appointment, Greg said: “The Jersey National Park represents the most treasured parts of our Island: places that define who we are. I am delighted to join the Park to work alongside the Board, partners and community to help secure its future.”

He added: “I look forward to ensuring the Park is more visible, understood and actively enjoyed, while strengthening the protections that will sustain Jersey for generations to come.”

Chair of the Jersey National Park, Jim Hopley MBE, said: “Greg joins us at a critical time, as the Park develops its formal role, scales up delivery across our programmes and strengthens its position as it moves into its second decade. His appointment brings the leadership, environmental experience and Island knowledge required to take the organisation forward. He will play a central role in our next phase, and we welcome the skills and direction he will bring.”
