Law firm Carey Olsen has promoted restructuring and insolvency lawyer David Jones into the partnership, with effect from 1 January 2019.
David will lead the Guernsey restructuring and insolvency team, providing specialist advice in relation to business restructuring and insolvency in contentious, non-contentious and multi-jurisdictional matters.
David joined Carey Olsen as an associate in 2010 before being promoted to senior associate and counsel in 2012 and 2016 respectively. He was called as a Guernsey advocate in 2014 and has played an integral role in developing the firm’s restructuring and insolvency practice.
He will be the only dedicated restructuring and insolvency partner in any Guernsey law firm and will continue to develop the outstanding reputation of that team with support from the Guernsey dispute resolution and corporate practices and the wider multi-jurisdictional teams.
David’s notable matters include advising in relation to the administrations of the philatelic investment business Stanley Gibbons (Guernsey) Limited, the Long Port Group and HMV Group plc, and the administration and liquidation of Joannou & Paraskevaides (Overseas) Limited. He has also advised on the restructuring, work out, or enforcement of a number of high value, multi-jurisdictional, non-performing loan portfolios on behalf of creditors.
Russell Clark, Managing Partner of Carey Olsen’s Guernsey office, said: “David has made a significant contribution to the development of our restructuring and insolvency practice in recent years and it is a pleasure to welcome him to the partnership. As a true, dedicated restructuring and insolvency lawyer in Guernsey, David has established an enviable practice and earned the trust and respect of clients and colleagues alike. He is a tremendous asset to the firm and very deserving of this promotion.”
