Bright Electrical’s Race for Life 2025 has achieved remarkable success in both Sark and Guernsey, raising a total of over £28,000 and attracting more than 800 participants.
In Sark, the event generated over £4,000, while Guernsey contributed an impressive figure of over £23,000.
This brings the total amount raised by the local event since it began in 2022, to over £100,000 for Cancer Research UK – Guernsey.
Held on Sunday 18 May, this year’s event took place at Rovers Football Club for the first time – a new venue that proved to be a fantastic host. From early- morning face stencilling to a post-race celebration with food, drink, and community spirit, the day brought together people of all ages to run, walk and, most importantly, remember loved ones affected by cancer.
Dani Barnett, event founder and main organiser, said: “Our Race for Life is about so much more than a running race. It’s about our community standing together, raising awareness, and making a real difference. Seeing people come together with purpose and positivity was truly inspiring. We’re so grateful to everyone who took part, donated, volunteered, or cheered participants on.”
“It’s truly inspiring to see the Our Race for Life in Sark grow year on year, with more participants coming together to make a difference. This annual event is becoming a powerful tradition in our community, and we’re thrilled to welcome everyone – whether you’re walking, running, or cheering from the sidelines – to be part of something so special,” said Natalie Tighe.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has taken part and helped raise vital funds for this great cause. A very special thank you must go to Dani in Guernsey, whose tireless dedication and behind-the-scenes work make this event possible – without her, it simply wouldn’t happen.”
Bryan Lean, chairman of Cancer Research UK – Guernsey, added: “We are incredibly thankful for the support shown by the Guernsey community. Every pound raised goes directly to supporting Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work in Southampton – helping to fund research that improves early diagnosis, treatments and survival rates. This benefits patients from Guernsey, who are now also included in clinical trials offering new treatments. These local events make a global impact.”
The team also expressed heartfelt thanks to Rovers Football Club, whose warm welcome and support helped elevate the event: “We’re so appreciative of Rovers for hosting us for the first time. Their generosity and their brilliant venue helped make this year’s race extra special,” said Dani.
Event sponsor, Bright Electrical, shared their support for the event and its cause. “Bright Electrical have been delighted to be part of supporting this event since day one and hope this year will be a great day out for all involved. It’s not only a great event, that has raised significant amounts of money for a great cause, but it has also brought the community together at the same time,” said Richard Perrio.
