A group of eighteen banking professionals from across HSBC’s Channel Islands and Isle of Man offices have ‘graduated’ from the Bank’s dedicated leadership programme.

‘HSBC Accelerate’, now in its second year, is a six-month programme designed in partnership with Cranfield University, to identify top talent at the Bank, prepare future leaders and support their development.

The programme includes focused coaching, networking opportunities, plus group and individual learning sessions, all aimed at giving participants the tools and direction to progress their careers. As well as helping them to build vital skills required for successful and inclusive leadership roles, the programme also gave participants an opportunity to work on real leadership projects with a number of the banks local Community Partners.

This year, those Community Partners were Every Child Our Future, Jersey Youth Service, Jersey Child Care Trust, the Youth Commission for Guernsey and Alderney, and Junior Achievement Isle of Man. Each charity receiving approximatley 100 hours of pro-bono professional support through the programme.

Commenting on the programmes success, Tracy Garrad, CEO, HSBC Channel Islands and Isle of Man, said: “I sincerely congratulate all those who took part in and completed our second Accelerate Programme at HSBC. Accelerate is a key initiative for retaining and nurturing local talent at the Bank, by giving our aspiring leaders a platform to challenge themselves and to focus their professional development in a myriad of ways. As a result, we are able to have a pipeline of really talented people ready to take on senior leadership opportunities when they come along.

“In addition, it is one of the Bank’s key objectives across the world to make a positive contribution to the communities where it is based. It’s wonderful that through our Accelerate Programme, we can also provide a considerable amount of professional support to local charities, which will have a long-lasting strategic impact for them.”

Partnering with Cranfield University those graduating were: Alistair Philp, Will Paine, David Greenwood, Marcelo Gazzi, Richard Cannard, Simon Lidbury, Deep Jobanputra, Kris Moors and Claire Lilley in Jersey; Jason Liddy, Stefan Hager, Rob Thomson, Ed Thomas, Janette Mignot and Sean Conlan in Guernsey; and Shirley Foley, Jim Woodall and Andrew Whittaker in the Isle of Man.
