
Senior Compliance Officer – MLCO/MLRO
We are seeking a dedicated Senior Compliance Officer to conduct the role of MLRO & MLCO in our Jersey office. This role involves supporting Skipton International Limited in meeting its regulatory obligations regarding anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorist financing (CFT), and counter-proliferation financing (CPF). You will receive full support and oversight from the Guernsey based MLRO/MLCO.
Key accountabilities
- Collaborate with the Guernsey MLRO to provide monthly updates on SARs and financial crime compliance.
- Monitor regulatory updates and assist in updating internal policies and procedures.
- Coach and upskill the compliance team on new rules, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Conduct compliance assurance reviews to assess the effectiveness of policy implementation.
- Advise internal management and business partners on compliance programs and regulatory changes.
- Prepare compliance reports for the Executive Risk Committee, Executive Committee, Board, and regulatory authorities.
- Foster a culture of compliance by embedding risk management principles and supporting first-line colleagues.
- Implement risk mitigation strategies aligned with Skipton’s risk appetite.
- Oversee the Compliance Monitoring Programme and communicate key findings to stakeholders.
- Act as a point of contact within the Compliance Team and provide guidance.
- Deliver compliance training and regulatory programs to colleagues at all levels.
- Escalate significant compliance breaches to key stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to enhance the compliance program based on best practices and emerging technologies.
- Analyse trends and data to anticipate emerging risks and recommend proactive measures.
- Manage compliance-related investigations, including evidence gathering and documentation.
- Coordinate internal compliance audits to assess adherence to regulations and policies.
- Implement process improvements to streamline compliance workflows.
- Participate in industry forums and training to stay informed of new trends and challenges.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a unified approach to compliance.
Qualifications/skills
Essential:
- Educated to Diploma Level.
- Membership of an applicable professional institution.
- Experience with sanctions monitoring tools and other compliance-related software.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a Financial Services Compliance environment and managing a team.
- Working knowledge of Risk Management Frameworks within a Financial Services organisation.
