Tribute to Aggie Nicolle unveiled in Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation flat

Coinciding with the anniversary of Aggie Nicolle’s passing, the children’s bedroom in Aggie’s Burrow has been lovingly redesigned as a tribute to her life.

Following a 20-month battle with neuroblastoma, Aggie sadly passed away in February 2016 and the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation’s second property was named after her.

Aggies room

Nine years on, the charity invited the Nicolle family to share the colours, items and features that Aggie was fond of. With a donation from Clarity Limited, artwork from Tiffany Anna Art and a bean bag from Helping Jonah – Helping Others, the purple and star-themed room has been a collaborative effort.

Aggie’s parents, Emma and Hubert Nicolle said: “We love the redecoration of the bedroom in Aggie’s Burrow, it looks amazing. We know that our girls would have loved to have slept there. We hope that it will make a big difference for the children that unfortunately have to stay there, and we hope it will make at least one aspect of being in Southampton a little easier. We also want to express our thanks to all that helped with the project as without these kind donations of artwork, furniture and time this would have not been possible.”

Jo Priaulx, Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation (PPBF) co-founder, had the idea to refresh the children’s bedrooms in each of the PPBF’s flats, and wanted the projects to be personal to all three families. In 2024, Matthew’s Hideaway was launched in the charity’s newest property, in honour of Matthew Girard, and there will be plans for Isaac’s Pad later in the year.

Mrs Priaulx added: “Emma and Hubert continue to be wonderful friends of the PPBF, so it was a real pleasure to work with them on this. Emma mentioned that Aggie and her younger sister Greta would enjoy sleeping in a bunk bed if they were away from home, so this is what we started with. Fairy lights and stars were all incorporated, and we think the finishing touches suggested by the Nicolles really make the room a warm and peaceful space. Thank you everyone.”
