The Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure has held talks with Jersey’s Minister for Infrastructure, Constable Andy Jehan, to share learning on  issues relating to transport, waste and recycling.

Constable Jehan’s first stop was the St Martin’s School Street to see it in action, after which he met with the Committee at La Vallette Bathing Pools before joining them on a site visit to the Longue Hougue Waste Transfer Station and Household Waste and Recycling Centre in the afternoon.

Constable Andy Jehan, Jersey’s Minister for Infrastructure, said: “I am very grateful to Deputy de Sausmarez and the Environment and Infrastructure Committee for hosting me on Friday. I found our discussions to be helpful and informative. As Channel Islands, we face similar challenges and can always learn from each other and seek to improve our co-operation. As always, I greatly enjoyed my time in Guernsey, and I look forward to continuing our dialogue and engagement in the future.’”

Deputy Lindsay de Sausmarez, President of the Committee, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Jersey’s Minister for Infrastructure to Guernsey on Friday and discuss common and differing ground relating to our on-island transport and recycling infrastructure. As similar sized jurisdictions our islands share many of the same challenges, and sharing knowledge with each other is one of the best ways we can learn from each other and tackle them ever more efficiently.”
