Imaginations run wild for the Resolution IT Design Challenge!

This afternoon, Resolution IT hosted the prize giving for the Guernsey portion of the annual Resolution IT Design Challenge at Digital Greenhouse. The level of innovation and creativity really impressed the judges, and with over 500 entries to choose from, the winners should feel incredibly proud. Congratulations to Vauvert School who submitted entries from 100% of students, winning them a £500 donation from Resolution IT. The competition was hosted in partnership with Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation, and with support from PlainSail, Resolution IT has been able to donate a Smart TV and Xbox games console to Frankie’s Den, one of PPBF’s Southampton apartments where families stay when their children are receiving specialist care at Southampton Hospital. Resolution IT would like to thank all the local schools who got involved, Platinum Sponsor PlainSail, and prize sponsors Clicksmith, Agilisys, Fort, Entrust, and Aladdin’s Cave, for their generous support.

Resolution IT has awarded the Guernsey winners of its third annual design challenge; Transport of the Future!

Resolution IT’s annual Design Challenge came to a close in June, with the winners awarded their prizes at a prize giving presentation at the Digital Greenhouse.

This year, the brief was to invent a futuristic form of transport that could travel through land, air or sea. More than 500 entries flooded in from across the Channel Islands, featuring innovative and creative designs that wowed the judges.

Hosted in partnership with Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation (PPBF), the prize giving featured an introductory speech from charity trustee, Nick Leale, sharing more information about the charity and the important work it does to support local families through difficult times. This includes managing three cosy and comfortable flats next to Southampton Hospital, for those needing to seek off island care for a premature baby or critically ill child.

The competition’s winner, Amber Armstrong, designed a flying pirate ship, intended to provide safe passage to Southampton Hospital for families going through hard times. To celebrate this beautiful design and the message behind it, Resolution IT has commissioned the artwork to be recreated in Lego and displayed in Matthew’s Hideaway. This is the new name of the children’s bedroom in Frankie’s Den, dedicated to the late Matthew Girard who sadly passed
away from cancer at the age of 12, in 2020. He loved Lego, and the design competition concludes with this special PPBF announcement.

The competition’s platinum sponsor, PlainSail, has generously donated an Xbox Series S games console and Smart TV to PPBF, for use in Frankie’s Den, as well as contributing to the cost of the Lego artwork.

Competition Winners

Resolution has thanked the prize sponsors, Fort, Agilisys, Clicksmith, and Aladdin’s Cave, for donating fantastic prizes to the competition winners.

The prize giving was presented by Resolution IT’s Head of Customer Success, Joe Wilkinson, and Brand & Marketing Manager, Tove Barnes. Prizes were presented by Sales & Marketing Director, Pierre Jehan.

The winner of the Resolution IT Innovation Award was Poppy Blackwell from Notre Dame du Rosaire, for her ‘FT-3000’. Poppy won a JBL Bluetooth Speaker, courtesy of Resolution IT.

For submitting the highest percentage of entries relative to class size, Vauvert School won a £500 donation from Resolution IT. This check was collected by Vauvert’s Aimée Scullion, Class Teacher and Computing Lead.

Tove Barnes, Resolution IT’s Brand & Marketing Manager, said: “We would like to sincerely thank all our generous competition sponsors, the local schools who got involved in the competition, and Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation for partnering with us. We’re so delighted to see the number of entries increase exponentially each year and it’s fantastic to see such strong creativity in our local students.”

Joe Wilkinson, Resolution IT’s Head of Customer Success, said: “Massive congratulations to all of our winners. This competition is very important to Resolution IT and we are so grateful to have received hundreds of entries this year to make it extra special and put some huge smiles on our winners’ faces! It was a pleasure to partner with Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation and our thanks also go to Nick Leale for coming and sharing details of their fantastic work with us.”

Jo Priaulx, PPBF Co-Founder, said: “A big thank you to Resolution IT for raising awareness of the PPBF during this wonderful competition. The team have been a joy to work with and we’re thrilled that so many school children were involved. The culmination of the competition was also the perfect way to officially announce Matthew’s Hideaway, a LEGO themed room to honour Matthew Girard’s memory. It is located in Frankie’s Den, one of our three Southampton-based flats that provide islanders with practical and emotional support during turbulent times.”
