A Bookmark Design Competition for schools across Jersey has been launched by Highvern, inviting students across different ages to celebrate their love of the literary world.

As the main corporate sponsors for Jersey Festival of Words, Highvern is encouraging children to ink their imagination to celebrate the 9th year of the literary festival by crafting creative designs inspired by their favourite books, beloved characters, or capturing the essence of the Festival itself.

Open to students from Year 3 to 8, the winners will receive free tickets to a Festival event of their choice as well as a Highvern literary and arts goodie bag worth £200. Entries will be judged by Highvern employees with all submissions displayed as part of the Festival.

This marks the third consecutive year that Highvern has supported the Jersey Festival of Words as its main corporate sponsor, helping to bring renowned authors and household names to the island as part of a diverse and inclusive schedule of talks.

Martin Hall, Chief Executive of Highvern, said: “This year’s lineup of authors is sure to captivate younger readers, and we hope that the bookmark competition will not only spark excitement among budding bookworms but also inspire more participation in the Festival’s events and school workshops. We are passionate about promoting the arts within the Channel Islands and honoured to continue to be associated with this inspiring and educational programme of events.”

Entries will be accepted until 19th June and winning designs will be produced as sustainable bookmarks and handed out at festival venues. Click here for details of how to enter.
