As the excitement builds for the upcoming Saffery Rotary Walk, set to take place on Saturday 8 June, volunteers joined together on Tuesday 30 April for the first Packing Night of the year.
The event, held at St James, saw dedicated volunteers from both Saffery Trust and Rotary assembling Welcome Pack envelopes for registered walkers, ensuring that participants are well-prepared for Walk day. Volunteers worked hard to prepare over 700 walker packs, containing essential information and the much-loved orange T-shirts.
The first group of Welcome Packs will be dispatched to the walkers who have already signed up to take part in this year’s Walk, and future dispatches of these packs will occur throughout May for those who sign up before Walk day. Some walkers will be travelling from as far afield as South Africa, Denmark and Hungary, with 1 in 8 Welcome Packs set to be delivered to UK walkers.
Saffery Trust Director, Lisa Vizia said: “Each year, we volunteer a team from Saffery Trust who work hard, alongside the Rotary team, to prepare Welcome Packs for walkers who have already registered for the Walk.
“It is always a pleasure to be a part of the Walk, and we are incredibly grateful that we can make an important financial contribution, as well as dedicating our time during each stage of the process.”
