Following the announcement that poet and presenter Michael Rosen will be appearing at this year’s Jersey Festival of Words, the organisers have released details of several other writers scheduled to visit Jersey this September.

Among those appearing is celebrated and outspoken comedic writer and presenter Kathy Lette, whose novels explore themes of feminism, love, and societal norms; she will be discussing her new novel The Revenge Club – a wicked tale of four scorned women and one perfect plan.

Journalist Chris Stokel-Walker will be charting AI’s Cold War origins and what the future of tech looks like in his new book How AI Ate the World, while renowned poet and ex-Scottish Laureate Jackie Kay (pictured) will be presenting an evening of readings from upcoming anthology May Day – a powerful collection of poems about grief and profound change infused with the light of love and celebration.

Also appearing will be Samantha McAlister, a former TV producer and author who is best known for securing the interview with Prince Andrew for BBC Newsnight’s programme, and who was recently portrayed by actress Bille Piper in the smash hit Netflix film ‘Scoop.’

Festival Director Pippa Le Quesne said: “We are thrilled with the richness of perspectives and range of topics covered by our line-up of speakers this year. From current affairs to comedy, technology to protest poetry, our diverse array of voices promises to inspire and challenge our audience throughout the Festival.”

Speaking of the Festival, Chief Executive Martin Hall said Highvern, corporate sponsor of the event, were delighted to support the yearly celebration of literature, poetry, and spoken word performances once again: “The Festival promises to inspire and provoke thought among audiences during its nine-day duration. We look forward to this vibrant literary event, which brings together established authors, emerging talents, and enthusiastic readers on the island.”
