The Guernsey Alzheimer’s Association has raised more than £15,000 at its charity golf day.

The event took place on Friday 30th June, and the money raised will go towards supporting local carers and those in the community affected by Alzheimer’s.

The event, sponsored by HFL, hosted ex-international England rugby captain, Kyran Bracken MBE. Kyran is involved with the organisation ‘Progressive Rugby’, a lobby group which works to raise awareness of sports-related brain injury and promotes safety in sport.

21 teams came along to the Royal Golf Club for the afternoon competition. Teams also had the chance to play a hole with Kyran.

Julie Thompson, Manager of Guernsey Alzheimer’s Association, said: “We are thrilled with the support we received from the attendees and sponsors of our golf day. The money raised will go towards our continued respite work in supporting those affected by Alzheimer’s and help us to grow our services for the community.

“We are very thankful to HFL for supporting our event and helping us to bring Kyran Bracken over to play with the local teams. It was a great day and lots of fun.”

James Legge, Financial Director at HFL said: “Members of our team and our guests had an excellent afternoon of golf whilst, more importantly, raising funds for the Guernsey Alzheimer’s Association. We are proud to be able to continue our support of such a vital local resource for carers and those affected by Alzheimer’s.”
