Alderney is to play its part in a murder mystery TV series shot on the Island by a leading French production company and due to air in the summer.

Quad Drama, the company behind the massively popular ‘Murder In…’ series along with Women at War and The Bonfire of Destiny for Netflix and other TV films and series, came to Alderney in April for its latest episode.

The production team and actors Sara Mortensen Ferrier, Camille Claris and Christine Hooper were on the Island to shoot scenes for Murder in Bayeux, the 97th in the series which features different towns and communities across France, for French national channel France 3.

Shooting had started in February in Bayeux and ended on Alderney where they shot in Braye Street, High Street and in the Library, renowned for its link to the Bayeux Tapestry.

Anne-Isabelle Boulon of Visit Alderney and colleague Caroline Gauvain liaised with Quad Drama to ensure everything went smoothly for the day-long shoot when director Kamir Aïnouz and 15 members of the technical team descended on Alderney via Manche Isles Express.

Anne-Isabelle explained: “We have been working with Quad Drama since last August. States Works were very helpful making the scenes for the shoots looking nice and tidy, including the bunting which was up early in Braye Street. The volunteers at the library are to be congratulated for their welcome for the crew, closing the library and dealing with all of the unexpected last-minute issues.”

Murder In…, co-produced by France Télévision, is an inventive, creatively curated French TV series that allows travel lovers to immerse themselves in the intimate lives of the locals who live and work at destinations across France.

Filmed in most of France’s 18 regions, some episodes are set in towns so tiny that many may never heard of them. Others are better-known places but still off the beaten tourist track, and away from large cities.

And now that includes Alderney, or Aurigny as the French refer to the Island.
