Deadline extended in response to technical issues for Guernsey online tax returns

Work is taking place this morning to resolve technical issues affecting some customers accessing their online tax returns.

It is unclear at this stage what has caused these issues, but work is underway to establish that and to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. However, in recognition of how this will have meant some people have not been able to complete their returns as expected ahead of the deadline of 7 March, the Revenue Service is extending the deadline by ten days, until 17 March 2023.

The Revenue Service is very sorry for the disruption to online tax returns, and fully appreciates customers are rightly frustrated.

Nicky Forshaw, Director of the Revenue Service said: “We’re extremely sorry for these technical issues, and we know customers expect better. We’re working with our technical specialists to establish what has gone wrong and fix it as quickly as possible.

“We’re extending the deadline so please do not worry, you will have plenty of time of complete your return. We would ask that people don’t phone or contact us this morning if it is to do with technical problems with online returns, as we’re concentrating our resources on restoring the service. But please keep following the States of Guernsey’s social media channels or local media as we’ll continue to provide updates on our work to restore services.”
