Clive Myrie, the renowned BBC newsreader and journalist, is hosting 75 Guernsey media studies students later today at a privately-held careers talk, at the St Pierre Park Hotel.

Mr Myrie is in Guernsey thanks to Skipton, who are bringing him to the island. He will also be the guest speaker at a black-tie ball this evening in aid of the Guernsey Alzheimers Association, in addition to doing other work for Skipton.

The highly respected BBC journalist, who last week won the Royal Television Society’s much acclaimed ‘Network Presenter of the Year’ award, beating Huw Edwards and Susanna Reid, is a stalwart of the BBC and has experience in all aspects of broadcast media, most recently reporting from the Ukraine war.

Edward Gregson, head of Media Studies at the Grammar School, said: “We are very grateful to Skipton for this unique opportunity to hear from someone so clearly at the top of their game. Clive Myrie has vast experience in journalism, and is keen to impart his knowledge to our students. We are very much looking forward to hearing what he has to say.”

Jim Coupe, Skipton’s Managing Director, said: “Skipton already has a relationship with Clive, having worked with him last autumn, so it was a natural progression to bring him to the island and showcase its beauty to him. I am delighted we have been able to facilitate Clive’s talk to the media students today, in addition to helping the Guernsey Alzheimers Association for their black-tie fundraiser. It exemplifies all that Skipton promises: to support the communities in which we operate.”
