Approval for landmark building in Jersey

Planning approval has been granted to redevelop Ingouville House in St Helier following a meeting held by the Planning Committee.

The Planning Committee voted unanimously 7-0 in favour of the scheme, offering positive feedback on the innovation, design and architecture.

The overall project will act as a regeneration to the area providing opportunities to hold performative and cultural events within the spaces and will benefit the residents of Anne Court which is currently under construction; thus reinvigorating this part of St Helier.

The regeneration of the site will create eight 2-bedroom residential apartments, complete with full-height glazing and landscaped amenity space. The dual-aspect, open-plan layout will offer contemporary living spaces in an attractive, urban public square environment.

The scheme will also see the provision of a restaurant with alfresco seating, encouraging the activation of the square.

The design was created by the Jersey Studio of PF+A Architecture who considered the proportions of the building to frame the public square.

The finished design features a striking façade consisting of a series of ceramic louvres, built on an exoskeletal frame; the inspiration for which came from Jersey’s seascapes and tidal movements. Each louvre has a unique glazed, hand-crafted appearance, finished in various shades of emerald, jade and turquoise.

Directors of local Development company, JMEC stated that they are proud to develop such an innovative scheme, which will set the tone for the architecture of the square.
