Finance Director and co-founder of Channel Islands Adjusters, Julie-anne Headington, has been elected a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Julie-anne’s dissertation was entitled: “By considering sustainable and durable materials at reinstatement, can insurers have an impact on global warming?”. This award represents a significant milestone for her, as Julie-anne now has three fellowships (through examination). Earlier this year she achieved Fellowship at the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters and was previously accepted as a Fellow of the Association of Accounting Technicians.

Julie-anne’s dissertation topic reflects her passion for combating the issue of global warming. As a member of the Executive Committee of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters and through her role as Chair of the Examination Committee, Julie-anne continues to champion the inclusion of sustainability and the impact of climate change as part of the study syllabus for loss adjusters.

This passion is also reflected in Julie-anne’s personal endeavours. She has become a prominent climate change activist, using her position as an insurance specialist to highlight the changes we can all make to live a greener lifestyle, including how insurance policies can be adapted to ensure a collaboration between insurers and homeowners. To bring this important issue to a wider audience, she also organised the “Guernsey Green Ribbon Pledge”. This event took place on 21st June 2022 and saw islanders gather and make a pledge to do their bit to mitigate the impact of climate change while aiming to show the Government that individuals can make a difference.

Julie-anne said: “I am very proud to be awarded Fellowship by the Chartered Insurance Institute. This honour is particularly important to me as it is so closely linked with my personal interests. I intend to use my position as an insurance specialist to ensure the issue of climate change is always at the top of the agenda whether it be in our community or the insurance industry. We can all do so much as individuals and our own actions really do make a difference”.

Managing Director of Channel Island Adjusters, Richard Headington, said: “Julie-anne’s achievement is reflective of a lifetime of hard work and dedication to the insurance industry. It also embodies her willingness to use her position to tackle important social issues. I am in awe of what she has achieved and continues to achieve. She is a superb advocate for Channel Islands Adjusters as well as an involved member of the local community, always striving to make life better for all Guernsey residents.”
