Prosperity 24/7’s pedal power raises over £17,000 for charity

Prosperity 24/7 and the 14 other teams which participated in Prosperity Day 2022 generated an amazing £17,420 for Durrell and the RNLI through pedal power in the eighth annual Prosperity Day virtual cycling challenge which took place on Friday 15th July.

The fundraising total will be split between the two charities and brings the total amount raised for local charities by Prosperity Day over the past eight years to in excess of £135,000.

Each team of three competed in a fast paced 30-minute race using 3D race technology and turbo bike trainers to take on a gruelling virtual stage of the Tour De France, while in the build-up to the event needed to ensure that they undertook the all-important fundraising activities, to secure their space on the podium.

Race day performance and charity fundraising are essential factors to make it to the podium. It isn’t just about speed, but more importantly about, money raised. This is fundamentally important to the charities who ultimately benefit from the endeavours and the purpose of Prosperity Day, namely, to have a positive impact for local charities.

The final three teams went ‘head-to-head-to-head’ on a velodrome race to see who would take bragging rights on race performance, and PwC were victorious, yet were denied the top podium spot, courtesy of Mourant, who achieved first place overall once the all-important fundraising dimension had been added to the scores.

To see who made the most impact on Prosperity Day:

  • Overall winners – 1st place – Mourant, 2nd place PwC, 3rd place – Style Group
  • Race winners – 1st place – PwC, 2nd place – Mourant, 3rd place – Colin Smith Partnership (CSP)
  • Top fundraisers – 1st place – Mourant, 2nd place – Style Group, 3rd place – KPMG

Chris Clark, Chief Executive Officer of Prosperity 24/7 said, “Once again our annual community event ran seamlessly, we are incredibly grateful to everyone involved for giving their time and energy to help us to raise an incredible amount to benefit two phenomenal charities.

“We are presently exploring how to make Prosperity Day even more purposeful next year, potentially leveraging our new building on the waterfront, or exploring how else we can include many more corporate teams, to once more, have a phenomenal impact in our endeavours to support local charities.”
