Digital Greenhouse’s Guernsey Venture Challenge closed its applications for 2022 this week, with 55 businesses having applied for the island’s first funded startup accelerator competition.
A wide range of entrepreneurs from all different industries have applied, ranging from sectors including entertainment, hospitality, digital, retail and more! Over the next few weeks, shortlisting will be taking place and shortlisted applicants will be notified on 22nd July 2022.
The successful businesses will receive an intensive 6-week programme of support from an expert mentor during the summer to prepare for the competition pitch finals being held in early September.
‘We were thoroughly impressed with both the number and the quality of businesses applying, which really showcases the level of entrepreneurial activity taking place in the island. We hope this opportunity will be a launchpad for not just the winners but all of the businesses taking part.’ Ben Wratten Programme and Engagement Manager (pictured) at the Digital Greenhouse.
‘It’s great to see so many local entrepreneurs engaging with the Guernsey Venture Challenge Initiative. So much hard work and creative thinking going into each piece, only goes to prove my long-held faith in Guernsey’s ability to grow its own talent. Educated, traveled, skilled and ideas driven. What a great position for the Island to be in. Good luck to all of the applicants’ – Neil Inder President of the Committee for Economic Development.
The winners will be announced at The Véyaon Awards evening on the 17th of November 2022, where they will be awarded their prizes.
The Véyaon Awards will be a night of celebration of local entrepreneurship and innovation, awarding those individuals and businesses who have ‘gone for it’ – the definition of véyaon in Guernésiais. With awards for startups, scaling businesses, digital disruptors and learners, the evening will shine a spotlight on innovation and new ventures in Guernsey.
More information on the Véyaon Awards can be found on the Digital Greenhouse website.
