The Jersey Financial Services Commission’s (JFSC) Registry has won an international award for its Registry digitalisation programme.
The award from the International Association of Commercial Administrators (IACA) follows the implementation of a new fully digital Registry in Jersey.
The JFSC is one of only three jurisdictions to win an award from the IACA this year, alongside North Carolina and Rhode Island. It is the sixth IACA Merit Award that the JFSC has won.
Digital Registry programme
In 2020, the JFSC embarked on transforming its Registry. This included streamlining its services, as well as making it simpler and more efficient for Registry customers to interact and share information with them.
myRegistry, the new online platform launched in February 2021. myRegistry allowed businesses to, for the first time, see the live information the Registry holds for them. It also hosts advanced features such as an API, to allow larger businesses, such as trust companies, to link up their systems directly with the Registry.
As well as modernising the Registry, these changes were in response to new legislation passed by the Government of Jersey under the Financial Services (Disclosure and Provision of Information) (Jersey) Law 2020. The new law was introduced to help the Island meet international standards. It was also the next stage following the introduction of the central register of beneficial owners and controllers.
Registrar, Julian Lamb commented: “It is a great achievement to once again be an IACA Merit Award winner. myRegistry is an effective and innovative solution with many elements that can be reused by our international colleagues. This award is testimony to the hard work of our Registry team, the invaluable support of our ICT and Programme Management colleagues, and the partnership with Government and Industry to complete, within tight deadlines, this work. It is great to see Jersey getting international recognition once again.”
The award ceremony took place in Phoenix, Arizona on Monday 16th May 2022.
