More than 60 representatives from a range of health and social care providers have met for the first Jersey-wide Health and Care Partnership Group.

The group, which aims to increase the health and wellbeing outcomes for Islanders, is made up of representatives from across a broad selection of health and social care organisations and charities. It is chaired by James Le Feuvre, the former CEO of Mind Jersey, who has more than 30 years’ experience within health and social care services across a range of senior roles in both the public and voluntary sectors.

On Thursday, the group established to increase collaboration between stakeholders in order to promote greater coordination in the planning and provision of services, met for its first quarterly meeting.

During the meeting, breakout sessions were held to generate discussion on several health and care topics including what had been learned about partnership working during Covid as well as which care pathways should be developed as priorities.

The meeting also included an update on the Jersey Care Model programme as well as the work being undertaken to create an Island-wide workforce strategy. A commissioning strategy, which has been co-designed by health and care providers and sets out how services will be commissioned in the future, was also launched.

James Le Feuvre, chairman of the Health and Care Partnership Group, said: “From the many meetings with health and care providers that I have in the run-up to this first event, I have not met anyone who thinks that the status quo is sustainable.

“I am very grateful to those whom attended this first meeting and look forward to working with them as we seek to improve coordination and real partnership working as we strengthen existing services and introduce new ones so as to provide Islanders with appropriate care, tailored to their own particular needs.”

The next meeting of the Health and Care Partnership Group is due to be held on 14th July.
