On Monday 21st March, The Digital Greenhouse will be kicking-off a series of events for the second ‘Data driven Guernsey week’, sponsored by Blenheim Chalcot.
Data Driven Guernsey week aims is to inspire people to develop their skills and understanding of data. The ambition is that these sessions will be, for some, the first steps in a new career in the growing field of data science.
The week is being organised and based in the Digital Greenhouse, co-constructed by a range of industry experts, government and support agencies including; Blenheim Chalcot, Prosperity 24/7, Avado Learning, KPMG, ID Register, We Are Guernsey, EY, Association for Project Management (APM) and more.
The week kicks-off with Measuring what matters: using metrics to supercharge your business, an interactive session highlighting the power of OKRs. Tuesday morning will be focused on Innovation in Financial Services, a virtual talk sharing on and off-island perspectives on what innovation in Financial Services really means for Guernsey. In the afternoon there will be a Crypto Currency session for those looking to explore a safe and sustainable crypto journey.
Wednesday will feature a double session with Association for Project Management (APM) that will explore project management upskilling opportunities for professionals with any level of experience with a panel of experts. During Wednesday afternoon we will be joined by Cortex for Data Warehousing 101: How do you get started? To review the core principles of data warehousing whilst giving a live demo of Bragi, Cortex’s bespoke warehouse automation tool.
Thursday will begin with a virtual event with Avado Learning, to discuss why data skills are so in-demand now and how the need for them will continue to rise in the future. Lianne Hartley will share her journey of completing her Data Analyst Apprenticeship into working as a LDC for Avado.
Thursday will finish with individuals from across the tech and digital sectors coming together for the evening Tech-Mex networking event at the Lions Den above the Golden Lion which is kindly sponsored by Prosperity 24/7.
The week will conclude with a virtual session from Renew Guernsey on Friday about Zero Energy Buildings, how they can reverse biodiversity loss, provide abundant energy sources and data that can help reverse climate change and provide energy security.
Lucy Kirby (pictured) (Director, Digital Greenhouse) commented, “This is an exciting opportunity to bring together a range of local and international thought leaders, sharing innovation in the creation and use of data. This year the events will be held in blended formats, with options to attend in person or virtually, making the best use of tech to keep our community connected.”
