Staggered start times to ensure RBC Kids Race is safe and fun

Super League Triathlon is returning to Jersey on the 18th and 19th September and will once again host the RBC Race for the Kids on the Sunday.

RBC, the official Community Partner of Super League Triathlon Jersey 2021, is donating all proceeds from the hugely popular RFTK to their chosen charity partner, Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, supporting Jersey’s youth through the Young Conservationists Programme.

RFTK offers the chance for the whole family, friends (and dogs) to walk, wheel or run 2.5km or 5km around the Elizabeth Marina.

Whilst restrictions have recently been lifted in Jersey with no limit on the number of people mixing outdoors, RBC and SLT are still working hard to ensure the race is not only fun but safe.

Race organisers will be offering staggered race times to ensure that the number of runners at any time are kept to lower levels and sanitation units will be available around the course.

David Bailey, COO of RBC says: “In 2019, we saw our highest ever participation figures and we even smashed targets in the 2020 virtual challenge in spite of the global pandemic. We want to continue to take RFTK in Jersey from strength to strength, but it is crucial to both RBC and SLT that we do this with safety at the forefront. We want families to take part and have fun safely whilst raising money for Durrell.”

“I am delighted that we are able to organise this great event for the families of Jersey and would encourage anyone who is interested to sign up now and join me on the run on Sunday 19th September.”

Michael Dhulst, CEO of SLT added: “I am personally very excited to be returning to Jersey and offering Islanders a weekend of sporting excellence, activity and fun. However, we are determined to ensure that we do this safely and we have been working with the Government of Jersey to ensure all guidelines are met and exceeded.”
