The Jersey Met Office have just issued an Orange Snow Warning (that’s an ‘orange level risk’ warning, not a warning for ‘orange snow’!)
A band of snow will affect the island from 17:00 Tuesday (9th February) lasting until the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Up to 2cm of snow is likely, but could reach about 5cm, with strong winds possibly leading to some drifting of snow at times.
Jersey will make a decision will be made by 06:00 tomorrow morning whether individual schools will be open or be closed tomorrow or if there is a delayed opening for some or all schools.
Parents are advised to check with their own school or college for the latest information, as well as following Channel Eye updates, where the decision will be posted.
The road salting team will be out this evening and in the early hours of the morning to ensure that main road hills and major routes are kept clear.
Update: The snow did come, but not as bad as the forecast. Therefore, it’s ‘business-as-usual’ for schools and services.
