Viberts has announced three promotions in its Private Client, Corporate and Dispute Resolution teams – recognising the individual’s commitment and contribution to their roles.
Karla Summers-Shaw, from the firm’s Private Client team and Oliver Hughes from the Corporate team have been promoted to Associate. Whilst Giles Emmanuel, from the Dispute Resolution team, has been promoted to Senior Associate.

Advocate Giles Emmanuel has been with Viberts since 2019 and has over 20 years’ experience in the legal industry. He is well regarded by colleagues and clients alike and was recently recognised as a ‘Rising Star’ by the Legal 500 in their UK 2021 edition. Giles has a broad skill set and has extensive experience supporting clients across dispute resolution, civil litigation, criminal, bankruptcy, employment and trusts law.
Karla Summers-Shaw has been with Viberts for seven years progressing from Legal Assistant, to English Solicitor and now to Associate. Karla is an invaluable member of Viberts’ Private Client team. Her expertise in wills, probate and capacity matters, aligned to her approachable and dependable manner, has created a strong reputation amongst both colleagues and clients.
Oliver Hughes, an English Solicitor, joined Viberts in March 2020. He has over 10 years’ experience focussing on a range of corporate, regulatory, funds and private client matters. ‘Ollie’ is a prolific and insightful commentator on matters impacting both the Jersey and international business community with his ‘Expresso’ series on Linked-In providing both clarity and direction on often complicated legislation. In a relatively short time Oliver has established himself as being instrumental in the continued growth and success of Viberts Corporate Team.
