Patients and visitors to the Princess Elizabeth Hospital (PEH) can enjoy this year’s Guernsey and Alderney Christmas stamp designs up close which are featuring in the Arts in Health display.

Local artist Steven Winstanley created playful cartoon style illustrations featuring Santa against a backdrop of several local landmarks. In his day job for Dowding Signs, Steven has been involved in installing various arts in health projects at the hospital and approached Guernsey Post about the possibility of displaying the Santa stamp artwork at the PEH.

Lottie Barnes, Culture, Arts and Health Manager said: “We are pleased to have been asked to display the artwork for this year’s Christmas stamps at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital. Artwork in health and care settings is proven to assist with mental wellbeing of patients, their relatives and staff. Being in hospital at Christmas is challenging for patients and their relatives. I hope that the artwork brings some cheer to the patients and staff over the festive period.”

Bridget Yabsley, head of Guernsey Post’s philatelic bureau, said: “We are really pleased that this year’s Christmas stamps will be on display at the PEH for lots of people to enjoy. Steven has done a brilliant job creating the designs which have been well received by Bailiwick residents and our stamp collectors.”
