At its 2020 Annual General Meeting, held electronically and with attendees from across the Islands, the Channel Islands Information Security Forum (CIISF) reverted to its traditional approach of electing two Deputy Chairs: one based in Jersey and one in the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
Jersey-based ‘Big Four’ consultant, Arthur Mainja, was re-elected as Chair for a further term, and Deputy Chair Dave Cartwright, a head of cyber security in the financial services industry, was re-elected in the modified role of Deputy Chair (Jersey). Information security consultant, Tony Cleal was elected as a new member of the committee and took on the role of Deputy Chair (Guernsey).
Other members of the committee are Stephanie Luce (Secretary), Alan Riney (Treasurer), Andre Gorvel, Peter Lescop and David Carney all based in Jersey and; Paul Torode, Bruce McDougall and Robert Childs from Guernsey.
Chair, Arthur Mainja sad: “Because of the restrictions in place – particularly in Jersey – following the COVID-19, we were disappointed not to be able to run our annual Jersey and Guernsey conferences. As restrictions are relaxed, the Forum hopes to restart its events programme both online and, if possible, as hybrid events – events that are streamed via the internet but with a modest level of in-person attendees”.
The CIISF welcomes opportunities to collaborate with any organisation, commercial or otherwise, who share the CIISF’s aim of promoting and improving cyber security in the Channel Islands. Enquiries about potential collaboration
In early 2019 the committee of the CIISF founded a new charity, the Jersey Charitable Skills Pool, to provide cyber security advice and assistance to charities and not-for-profit (NFP) organisations who may not otherwise be able to obtain it on a commercial basis. The JCSP has already helped a variety of organisations, and it invites applications from any charities or NFPs that wish to use its services. Applications may be made via the JCSP web site here.
