Guernsey’s Committee for Education, Sport & Culture is looking for up to two people to join the Committee as non voting members. Committees of the States can elect non-voting members to sit alongside the States Members. They can participate fully in the work of the Committee, but do not have a vote.
Deputy Andrea Dudley-Owen, President of the Committee for Education, Sport & Culture, said: “At our first Committee meeting we discussed the appointment of non-voting members and all agreed they can add significantly to the work of a Committee. We are likely to appoint two people and are keen to hear from those who are passionate about our mandate and have the necessary commitment and drive to help us develop and progress the many priority areas of our work.
“While no specific qualifications are needed and we would welcome approaches from people from a variety of backgrounds and experience, we would particularly like to hear from people with experience in governance or representing employee groups”.
The Committee’s mandate includes education, apprenticeships, sport, leisure and recreation, libraries, museums, galleries and heritage, archaeology, the arts, Island Archives and civic celebrations such as Liberation Day.
