Local lifesaving club, Lifesavers Jersey, is now equipped to continue teaching valuable survival and rescue skills to young Islanders following a recent donation from Condor.

The Condor Community Fund has provided funds for the purchase of swim fins which are to be used by local youngsters in speed lifesaving events.

Sarah Gordon, coach at Lifesavers Jersey, was delighted with the new arrivals.

“We have been training hundreds of young people for many years who develop important skills from an early age and progress to earning valuable lifeguarding qualifications. The generous donation from Condor means parents no longer have to buy new pairs of swim fins when their children’s feet grow, so they can continue with their training.”

Tracy Peters, Condor’s Community Officer, commented: “We are very pleased to be able to support the team at Lifesavers Jersey so it can carry on providing such vital skills to young islanders.”

Condor’s Community Fund was established in 2019 and is designed to support islanders who give up their time to develop community activities. The Fund saw 83 applications from across the islands with a focus on sustainability, local benefit and enjoyment for others.
