Annie Ashmead, Interim CEO of Citizens Advice Guernsey, will be walking 45km to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Guernsey-based charity.
Annie (pictured) will complete the walk on Wednesday 20th September as part of the charity’s newly launched ’45’ campaign, during Citizens Advice Guernsey awareness week.
Annie will be walking 5 laps of 9km from the Citizens Advice Guernsey office on The Bridge to Town and back; starting at 7.45am.
The walk is part of the charity’s ’45’ campaign being promoted on social media, encouraging the people of Guernsey to take 45 minutes out of their day to help someone else. Whether that’s doing someone’s food shop, walking someone’s dog, or even having a cup of tea and a chat with a neighbour, the message is to challenge yourself to see what you can do in 45 minutes.
Annie Ashmead said: “I wanted to take on a challenge that represented our 45th anniversary. 45km is longer than a marathon, so this demonstrates that we go that extra mile. If you want to join me for a stint of my walk, please do, otherwise honk your car horn and cheer me on, all encouragement helps!
“We want to raise awareness for Citizens Advice Guernsey and the service we offer in the island, which is why we launched the 45 campaign. Take 45 minutes and help someone else, or take 45 minutes and join me on my walk!
“If anyone is interested in finding out more about being a volunteer or are curious about what other roles are available in the service, please get in touch to find out more. And as ever, if you or somebody you know needs advice, I urge you to get in touch with us.”
