This Halloween is set to be very different for the youngsters of Jersey, but local DJ, DJ Mel has come up with a way of entertaining them safely in their homes.
Throughout lockdown, earlier in the year, DJ Mel provided a weekly virtual Childrens Disco to islanders, 1000’s logged onto her website every Saturday to take part and dance around their living room. Each week was themed with youngsters parents sending in pictures of the children having fun, pictures they had made to fit the theme of that week or a costume they had made.
Every week was interactive, the youngsters could also send in shout outs, birthday requests and song requests. DJ Mel will be replicating this success this Halloween on the 31st October at 3.30pm she will be going live on her website with her Halloween spooky Disco. She is encouraging youngsters to dress up and send in their pictures and the best dressed will receive a goody bag full of sweet treats that DJ Mel will personally deliver after the show to the winners doorstep.
DJ Mel said: “This year I was suppose to be fully booked with events and parties but Covid has put a stop to that, it has been very hard on us, but I want to use the free time I never expected to have to give something back to the community. The youngsters have been amazing throughout the pandemic and have had to stop a lot of their normal activities and with Halloween approaching it was the perfect time to revive the success of the DJ Mel virtual discos and encourage them to still celebrate Halloween safely”.
DJ Mel’s Virtual Halloween Children’s Disco will take place on Saturday 31st October at 3.30pm here.
