Ten local students who are enrolled on the Guernsey Institute of Directors’ (IoD) Leadership Shadowing initiative will be invited to attend the IoD Convention as ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’.
The students will also attend an exclusive lunch with Boardroom 2030 members who will be on the IoD Convention panel.
Known previously as the ‘Directors of Tomorrow’, this initiative has been rebranded as ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’ to inspire young people to become the island’s future leaders.
This name and new approach is now more closely aligned to the IoD’s student programme for young leaders. The Leaders of Tomorrow scheme, which is sponsored by the Ana Leaf Foundation, aims to celebrate young business talent on the island, and to expose Guernsey’s Leaders of Tomorrow to thought leadership and inspiring career role models from the Bailiwick and beyond. This will then create an alumni network of students who have the potential to be Guernsey future leaders.
The students, representing Guernsey’s sixth form cohort, will meet representatives from Boardroom 2030. This is a campaign created by B Lab UK inviting businesses to explore and model what a 2030 future in Guernsey might look like for them. It will draw attention to the changes on the island that need to be made today to prepare for a better tomorrow.
The 10 Leaders of Tomorrow will all receive a year’s IoD Student Membership and will be invited to the IoD Future Leaders Summit in December where they will meet with other inspirational leaders from Guernsey and further afield.
Hayley de Putron, a Trustee of the Ana Leaf Foundation, said: “We want to provide students with opportunities that will help them excel today and be the best they can be. We’re proud that this programme will give young people the chance to engage with the leaders of today in the hope they will be inspired to become the Guernsey leaders of tomorrow.”
Leaders of Tomorrow is part of the IoD’s Future Leaders programme, alongside Leadership Shadowing and the Future Leaders Summit.
The student lunch and IoD Convention will be taking place on 6 October.
