After six weeks of exciting and competitive racing, the inaugural Rossborough SpringSeries concluded with class wins for Simon Henning’s White Rabbit and Glory Days, skippered by David Aslett.
The Guernsey Yacht Club hosted the event, featuring class 1 and 2 yachts along with two dinghy series, which ran on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 10 April through to 17 May. White Rabbit claimed four victories in the six races to finish top of the class 1 racer yachts whilst Glory Days finished with three victories and two second places in class 2.
In the dinghies, the pairing of Gary and Tina Coutanche finished clear winners in the class 6 fleet, whilst in class 7, Steve and Mandy Rickards pipped Joe Coutanche and Heather Hutchins on countback, with the former pairing claiming victory courtesy to two first places.
Ian Stewart, Rossborough’s Managing Director, presented the trophies after last week’s finalraces and was thrilled the new series proved to be as popular as he had originally hoped.
“We were delighted to get involved in what is a popular sport and pastime on the Island and I was particularly pleased to see so many yachts and dinghies enter.”
Mr Stewart added: “We have been providing insurance services in the Channel Islands for over 80 years and marine cover is an important part of this portfolio so supporting the Guernsey Yacht Club helps us give something back to our local community.”
Clive Le Tisser, Commodore of Guernsey Yacht Club, said: “The GYC really appreciates the support as it allows us to schedule a full race programme during the year. Rossborough’s sponsorship is particularly welcome as the company insures many of our members locally and we look forward to a long and fruitful relationship.”
