Registration is open for Jersey Hospice’s tree-mendous 2021 Christmas Tree Collections!
The Christmas Tree Collection is a fun community event, which takes place at the end of the festivities – usually on or after Twelfth night.
Disposing of your old tree can be really inconvenient. Cutting it up, taking it to the tip, the mess in the car thanks to all those pine needles, it can drive even a Christmas saint to distraction!
Thanks to this tree-mendous initiative from Jersey Hospice, you’ll never have to worry about disposing of your unwanted Christmas tree again.
Simply sign up for the team to take it away, in return for a donation to Jersey Hospice, for it to be tree-cycled and all the hassle will be gone!
The scheme is run solely by an army of generous volunteers who give up their time to drive collection vans island-wide, man phone lines, and organise registrations. Further help is provided by the garden centres, local media, Department for Infrastructure, Webreality, Integrated Skills and La Collette Household Green Waste, as well as an abundance of kind donations from various food outlets.
The initiative is so successful thanks to its passionate founder, Trevor Parker, and the volunteers who help out year after year. Trevor commented: “The project has grown from collecting a few hundred trees to over 2,000 trees and from using two or three vans to now over 30. I am so proud that it’s become so successful, but I’m well aware that this is due to the commitment and enthusiasm that the volunteers show every year.”
** Christmas Tree Collections will be run in accordance with Government guidance and all supporters will be advised closer to the time of any additional requirements **
