Wendy Trehiou celebrated her ten year cancer free anniversary with support from the Jersey Bluetits Chill Swimmers last weekend.
They all took to the sea in Bouley Bay in a ‘Turn the sea pink for Wendy’ event whilst raising over £1100 for MacMillan Jersey.
Wendy is the Jersey endurance swimmer who has swum across the English Channel an amazing six times (twice both ways) as well as swimming around Jersey and many other endurance events.
Jersey Bluetits baked cakes and biscuits for the event which were available for a donation on the day.
The Jersey Bluetits is a non-profit group of friendly and welcoming sea swimmers of mixed abilities who get together for safe swims and fun social events. The benefits of cold water swimming are known to have a positive impact on people’s mental health, which has proved to be especially important during lockdown.
The Jersey Bluetits told Channel Eye that they were delighted to organise the event. “We are a group of like-minded cold water swimmers who meet regularly at different bays around the Island. There are no fees and swimmers of all abilities are welcome to join find us. Find out more here.
