Polaroids of islanders and visitors who took part in VisitGuernsey’s ‘Wear a Guernsey Day’have now formed part of a new pictorial display installed at Guernsey Airport.
The ‘Wear a Guernsey Day’ event, which took place at the Guernsey Information Centre and was part of the Guernsey Heritage Festival earlier in the year, celebrated the popular‘Guernsey’ jumper, while raising funds to support the Guernsey Lifeboat.
The display will be located on the new wall behind the departures desk next to the airport’scash machine.
A VisitGuernsey representative said: “It has been a really fun and rewarding project to work on, and we hope that the display will add something special to the airport. Over 100 locals and visitors got involved in the ‘Wear a Guernsey Day’; pictures within the display have come from as far afield as the USA!
“A big thank you to everyone who came along to the event, which generated a fantastic buzz and an authentic Guernsey experience for those who were visiting.”
The ‘Wear a Guernsey Day’ initiative was kindly supported by Guernsey Woollens, the Men’s Shed, Creaseys, Condor Ferries, the Guernsey Tapestry, Café Delices, the National Trust of Guernsey Folk & Costume Museum, the Guernsey Retro Festival organisers and, of course, the Guernsey Lifeboat Guild and crew members.
