The Salvation Army now has heating installed in its Minden Street café to ensure visitors stay warm this winter.
As part of its recently launched 100 Projects That Matter initiative, Jersey Electricity (JE) has donated and installed an infrared panel heater, which will provide low carbon, low cost electricity to the Salvation Army. Previously the café had underfloor heating which no longer worked, so the new heating panel offers café visitors a warm environment with low running costs for the charity.
Captain Richard Nunn, the co-leader of the Salvation Army in Jersey alongside his wife Captain Alice Nunn, said: “Thanks to Jersey Electricity for supporting us with providing additional heating in our community café in Minden Street. We work hard to be a warm, welcoming place for all, and this additional heating will be very much appreciated.”
Peter Cadiou, Director of Business Development at Jersey Electricity, added: “The Salvation Army is a real hub in our community, offering a safe space for the most vulnerable as well as a welcoming cafe. We’re pleased that the infrared panel is now installed and providing energy-efficient warmth to the charity’s visitors and is contributing to lower running costs.
“Infrared heating is ideal for the café’s space and we are proud to offer our support through our new community impact initiative.”
