Walkers has been named the winner in the Legal Services category of the European Captive Review Awards, marking excellence in legal services to the captive insurance market across Europe.
The Walkers Insurance team – spanning the key insurance jurisdictions of Bermuda, Cayman, Guernsey and Ireland – was crowned at the awards event in Luxembourg on Monday evening.
The award is a new category at the long-running European Captive Review Awards, and “recognises contributions to the captive market through legal expertise and innovation, strategic vision and business winning client care”.
Walkers Partner Kate Storey (pictured) – from the firm’s top-tier Guernsey Insurance practice – said that the team was delighted to be recognised. “This is hugely rewarding – we are delighted that the panel of independent judges has recognised our unique offering to clients in this way,’ she said.
“The Walkers Insurance team advises on the laws of Bermuda, Cayman, Guernsey and Ireland – four key jurisdictions for insurance globally, and specifically the captive insurance market.”
Kate was a finalist in the Captive Service Professional of the Year category in 2019.
Walkers partner Sarah Demerling, who jointly leads the firm’s Bermuda Insurance team with partner Peter Dunlop, added: “Our multi-jurisdictional offering resonates with our international clients, and as we continue to invest in and develop our insurance offering, we have seen instructions from an increasingly diverse set of clients touching on every part of our global organisation in Asia, Europe, the Caribbean and the Middle East, as well as US clients.”
