Utmost Worldwide, a life insurance company based in Guernsey and part of the Utmost Group, has been the first financial services company in Guernsey to achieve the Community Champion accreditation issued by the Environmental and Social Impact Monitor in Guernsey.
The ESI Monitor is a non-profit organisation that aims to instil sustainability through the process of business accreditation, carrying out independent assessment of the environmental and social measures taken by businesses. Further details are available at www.esimonitor.org.
One of the important measures to achieve the Community Champion accreditation includes a commitment to supporting local charities and community support initiatives. Utmost Worldwide has a proud tradition of supporting local charities that are nominated by members of staff each year, with a range of events held over the course of the year to raise funds. Utmost Worldwide will also celebrate 10 years of sponsoring the Guernsey Island Games in 2021.
Tony Mealing, Head of Operational Governance and Customer Services at Utmost Worldwide, explained:
“We are delighted to be the first financial services company in Guernsey to achieve the Community Champion accreditation. This reflects our dedication towards the local community and the strong degree of support from members of staff in raising funds for very worthwhile causes within Guernsey.”
Marc Laine, Managing Director of ESI Monitor, added:
“I am very pleased to have worked with Utmost in order to enable their accreditation as a Community Champion, in addition to their existing environmental accreditation. We look forward to working with other companies to increase the level of awareness of corporate sustainability, benchmarking companies against each other and enabling effective independent measurement of progress towards sustainable development goals.”
